Frequency Band Coverage of a BDA


An individual BDA can generally only cover a single public safety band. Amplifying a single public safety radio band is usually all that’s required for most authority having jurisdictions (AHJ).



An exception to this is that both the 700 MHz and 800 MHz bands can be covered with a single BDA.



If required, multiple frequency bands (i.e. VHF and UHF) can be covered by using multiple BDAs (one per frequency band) and combining them on a singular distributed antenna system (DAS). Plus, UHF BDAs can cover up to two UHF sub-bands (i.e. 450 MHz and 470 MHz).
